| Last week, my sister and her husband welcomed a new baby into the world - Hello, Reese! I am proud to be an aunt for the seventh time. The arrival of new life brings with it so much joy and jubilation that one might forget the preparation, challenges, and difficulties that need to occur before the big moment can actually happen.
It inspired to reflect on bringing new projects and ideas into the world. Much like a baby, it takes times, preparation, and growing pains to make it happen. One of the most challenging parts for me is the putting of an idea onto paper - a true test if the concept is really going to work. During this step, one is forced to critically examine what you want to accomplish and the steps necessary to achieve that end goal.
I find a solid logic model can help with the process. It is the skeleton that helps you develop the map that points you down the path to sucess...or helps you determine if it is a journey that you should not even begin!
To help anyone on the process of developing a new idea, I wanted to share a few interesting resources that I have found helpful in the process:
Now, as you find with pregnancy (so they tell me), logic models are not a one size fits all activity. I recommend that you do the research and find the best technique for your needs. It is a great first step in getting yourself organized and setting yourself up for success - in the present and the future.
Before you know it, it will be time to pop the champagne, pass out the cigars, and welcome the official presentation of your idea into the world! Have fun and good luck. |
