29th Annual InterFaith Concert
It was an overwhelming experience to participate in the 29th Annual InterFaith Concert organized by the InterFaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington on 18th November at the National Cathedral in Washington DC.
The concert featured sacred song, dance and chant from the Baha’i, Hindu – Jain, Islamic, Jewish, Latter–day Saints, Protestant, Roman Catholic & Sikh faith communities. I have not seen such a remarkable mélange of different religious faiths on one platform.
For me sitting through the concert in the heart of the National Cathedral was like transcending to a new dimension, new energy, new world, a world within me. In those moments the sense of calm, rejuvenation, and happiness was immense, which really cannot be described in words. Truly the concert was one of the memorable experiences in DC and in my life so far.
The spate of violence and destruction around the world, recently in Mumbai leaves me numb. I pray and wish to have such an event in India and other countries in times to come. |
