Since my arrival in September 2018, the Devex World, 2018 Conference, has been, without a doubt the best experience so far.
The Conference is a great platform for key stakeholders in development- governments, civil society, business and non-profit sector to review their approach to tackling social issues leveraging technology and information, and increasing accountability from all front to reinforce the battle. Networking was unique by interacting with people who spoke their mind about the challenges of the sector rather than highlighting achievements and positives.
“Converge, Engage, Inspire!”

I was personally very much inspired in the way speakers at the Devex World 2018 Conference focused on bigger picture things in the development sector and yet looking for the simplest solutions while leveraging technology.

  • The potential of Soft power to ease social unrest in Africa
The power of Action Tanks + Think Tanks
Blood transport by drones in Rwanda
High-level subsidies to take pressure off public systems in Health.

The list goes on …

The conference mainly was a great confirmation to carry on with my work in the development sector. A confirmation I had been searching for a long time in the development sector. To second my C26 fellow fellow Julie from Zambia, I truly hope this opportunity will be available in 2020 for Atlas Corps Fellows not only to attend as delegates but also as Speakers.
