About Colombianitos
Colombianitos (www.colombianitos.org) is a Colombian nonprofit that helps Colombian children victims of the violence and extreme poverty, through integrated educational, rehabilitation and recreation programs. Colombianitos’ educational program, “Goles para una vida mejor” (goals for a better life), reduces el crime and drug addicion, promoting education by practicing soccer, playing music and specialized training, among other activities. It is a community-based program that is currently providing hope to nearly 3,750 vulnerable and at risk children at a national level, living in Bogots, Puerto Tejada, Cartagena, Sincelejo, Barbosa and Medellín.

Corporate Project Assistant-Role Description:
Colombianitos is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, resourceful and experienced nonprofit professional from the United States to join the organization’s team as the Colombianitos-Atlas Corps Fellow / Corporate Project Assistant. Candidates must have 3-8 years of relevant nonprofit experience, at least a bachelor’s degree, and speak and write Spanish with near fluency.

Colombianitos is a dynamic organization in the midst of dramatic growth, driven by its Colombia management team, in partnership with the organization’s board. The Colombian office fundraising operations have become more sophisticated each year and have grown to incorporate expertise in communications (Web page, press releases, brochures etc), individual giving (plan padrino/sponsorship plan), and major donor work (corporations and grants).

The Colombianitos-Atlas Corps Fellow will participate in a number of new initiatives, particularly in fundraising efforts and strategies. We also expect the Fellow will participate in Colombianitos’ communications strategies, helping identify new and sophisticated avenues of donor communications, and assisting with event planning and coordination.

Responsibilities:
  • Grants Management. Working closely with the organization’s General Director and the Corporate Projects Coordinator, assist in management of report preparation and compliance of donor tasks and in prospecting for new grants and development of proposals.
  • Web Design and Management. Responsible of developing and creating the content, maintenance and updating of Colombianitos’ Web site as well as other organization’s segments found/displayed in Conexion Colombia
  • Annual Report. Assist the General Director in preparation of Annual Report
  • Communications. Compile a daily digest of articles about issues related to our work; develop narratives about projects and activities that can be incorporated into targeted communications media and other key organizational constituencies; conduct interviews with staff, parents, volunteers etc.; compile and keep track of information materials and merchandise; maintain the communications media database; conduct research on current events
  • Administrative. Prepare mailings; perform mail merges as needed.
Requirements:
  • 3-8 years of relevant nonprofit experience, and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent Spanish written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in fundraising, grant writing, project proposals and sustainability strategies
  • Background in communications or publishing preferred
  • Full knowledge of MS Office Software is a must; database management appreciated
  • Web publishing expertise highly preferred
  • Proactive and flexible nature with reliable follow-through and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated capacity and initiative to solve problems with energy and positive attitude
  • Be collegial and comfortable working in a small team
  • Strong ethical fiber.
