The typical partnership for a US CSO is to sign up by January 1, 2007 to become a Host Organization for an Atlas Corps Fellows. However some organizations will not be ready to sign the doted line before seeing the quality of the Atlas Corps Fellows, so a second category of partnership is available called Potential Host. A Potential Host likes the idea of the Atlas Corps but is unsure of the quality of the applicants or their ability to pay the cost share. These Potential Hosts state that they are interested, but not committed in taking a Fellow. After Fellows are recruited and chosen by the primary Host Organizations, then the Potential Host Organizations can cull the remaining applicants and decide whether they want to participate. However, if they do choose a Fellow their cost share will be $20,000. There will only be 10 Host organizations in 2007, so if 10 organizations sign up as Host Organizations by January 1, 2007, then there will not likely be an opportunity to be a potential host until the second year of the program.
| U.S. CSO Host Organization |
Primary Host organizations sign a contract with the Atlas Service Corps by January 1, 2007 to cost-share a Fellow for $16,000 from August 1, 2007 to July 31st, 2008. Primary Host organizations will provide a $1,000 deposit that will go towards their $16,000 total. Primary Host organizations outline criteria they are looking for in a Fellow and Atlas Corps will recruit 2-3 candidates for the Primary Host Organization to choose from in February 2007. Primary Host organizations will be able to interview candidates over email and even by digital video conference. Primary Host organizations will pick their Fellows before any of the other US CSO partners. |
| Potential Host |
Potential Host organizations like the idea behind the Atlas Corps, but are unsure of the quality of the Atlas Corps Fellows or their ability to pay the cost share. Therefore, they ask in writing by January 1, 2007 for their name to be kept on a list and in March 2007, after the U.S. CSO Host Organizations choose their Fellows, Potential Host Organizations can review the resumes of remaining candidates and determine whether they would like to hire a Fellow. If they choose to, then they will owe $20,000 for the cost-share. |
