Atlas Corps seeks to partner with Corporations who understand the value of international exchanges and realizes that it is important to be connected to some of the rising superstars of the global development sector.

Below is a proposal for how corporations and Atlas Corps can work together to strengthen the global nonprofit sector, build knowledge networks for corporations, and develop a strategic network of nonprofit leaders and stakeholders for corporations in the developing world. Atlas Corps hopes to develop meaningful partnerships with corporations that result in an incredible potential return on investment by participating in this low cost, high yield program. For only $20,000 corporations in the U.S. can sponsor a Fellow and become a full partner in this innovative, sustainable program that brings nonprofit leaders from around the world to the United States.

Partnership Opportunity:
Atlas Service Corps seeks to partner with corporations for the inaugural Fellowship of an international nonprofit organization that will recruit the best rising nonprofit leaders in the developing world (starting with India and Colombia) to volunteer at U.S. nonprofit organizations for one year. These fellows will build the capacity of U.S. Nonprofit organizations by giving of their time and talent, and also improve their own skills by learning best practices from U.S. organizations. U.S. Nonprofit"Host" organizations will pay a cost-share for these Fellows that will cover 40% of the program costs in the first year and eventually make the program completely sustainable by covering 100% of the program costs in the 10th year.

When corporations sponsor a Fellow, the Fellows will be named a "XYZ, Inc. Atlas Corps Fellows" and the company will have ample opportunities to interact with these individuals. Atlas Corps proposes that corporations identify a mentor, or point-of-contact, at the corporation for the proposed Fellow who they can interact with one-on-one over the course of the year. In addition, the proposed Fellow could be placed at the corporation for one week to learn about the company's operations, and also to share their knowledge of the nonprofit sector from their home. The sponsoring corporation will also have an opportunity to interact with all ten Fellows from the pilot year twice over the twelve month fellowship at a dinner or reception. In fact, sponsoring corporations will have access to the entire Atlas Corps network, the participants in the program, the U.S. "Host" nonprofit organizations, and the overseas nonprofit organizations that nominated these Fellows. All members of the Atlas Corps network can continue to communicate via an interactive web dialogue and build on the relationships developed during the yearlong fellowship. The partnership adds value to the sponsoring corporation, but also to the Fellows themselves who can learn how nonprofits and corporations work together in the U.S. Ideally, when these Fellows return to their home country they will continue to interact with the sponsoring corporations in their home country. Atlas Corps is open to other opportunities for interactions and wants to establish a partnership that provides corporate sponsors a knowledge network, and a research and development opportunity, with some of the best rising nonprofit leaders in the world.

Justification:
There is no "better business bureau" for nonprofit organizations or leaders overseas. As global corporation expand overseas there are increased demands to engage stakeholders to solicit feedback on the activities. Especially in the developing world, these stakeholders often include nonprofit leaders, many of whom may be anti-American, anti-corporate or even corrupt. Atlas Corps identifies the best and the brightest to participate in this elite fellowship opportunity and offers corporate sponsors an opportunity to build relationships with these individuals and learn from their perspective.

While Atlas Corps is starting with only 10 Fellows from India and Colombia, in a decade the organization will involve 300 Fellows a year from nearly a dozen countries and have thousands of alumni. Furthermore, because U.S. Nonprofit"Host" organizations pay a cost-share for Fellows, Atlas Corps will become a sustainable program in a decade and the cost to sponsor future Fellows will actually go down over time!
