Support Atlas Corps
An Atlas Corps priority is to develop a diverse funding base including family foundations, community/national/international foundations, city/state/national government, corporations/corporate foundations, CSO Host Organizations, civic organizations, religious groups, United Way, revenue generating products, individuals, and events. It will also be a priority to develop an endowment to ensure the long-term sustainability of the program. Most importantly, due to the $16,000 U.S. CSO Fellow cost-share, the additional program expenses will be quite low. In fact, for the first three years, the Atlas Corps fundraising goal is one million dollars. Over the next ten years, the funding of the organization will need to increase every year, but will never need to raise more than $1 million in a year, despite surpassing 275 Fellows by the 10th year. By the 10th year, with the growth of the Atlas Corps endowment and the increase in the "Host" cost-share, the program will be completely sustainable without any additional funding. Help Atlas Corps Raise $400,000 by December 31, 2006.
The Atlas Corps hopes to raise $400,000 before December 31st, 2006 to raise all the money necessary for the first two years of operation (September 2006 to August 2008). While we know it is a big request, we are asking individuals to give a larger amount this year to provide critical early financial support for the two-year pilot period. In addition, civic/academic/religious organizations who sponsor a Fellow for $800 will be able to have that sponsor come speak to their group about international service, their home country and their issue.
If over the next six months, Atlas Corps can raise a large amount from individuals and organizations, then foundation and corporate money will follow to help grow the organization.
The $400,000 is all of the money we need to be in operation until August 2008. Because of State Department requirements, Atlas Service Corps needs almost all of that money in the bank by the end of 2006 to begin the Fellowship. I need your help to raise two years worth of money in 6 months!
