Sara PotlerSara Potler, U.S. Program Director
sara(at)atlascorps(dot)org

Sara Potler is the U.S. Program Director for Atlas Corps, where she is responsible for managing the participation of U.S. Host organizations and fellows while they are involved in the U.S. program. Sara brings inter-cultural leadership experience, work with at-risk students, international exchange, and work in international education policy and administration to her role in Atlas Corps.

Sara recently returned from Bogotá, Colombia where she was on a Fulbright Scholarship writing, developing, and implementing a peace education, conflict resolution, violence prevention program with the University of Los Andes and the U.S. Department of State. While in Bogotá, Sara designed and led an innovative Dance for Peace curriculum with third graders in Colombian public schools and shared her research with the Colombian Ministry of Education, the U.S. State Department, and the U.S. Agency for International Development. Today this peace education program is being implemented all over Colombia, in regions identified by the Colombian Ministry of Education as high-conflict regions.

Sara brought the Dance for Peace program to Washington, D.C. as a Program Associate with the United Nations-mandated U.S. Association for the University for Peace (UPEACE/US). Sara contributes to the development and implementation of the DCPEACE program, a peace education curriculum in District public elementary schools. As a Special Advisor, she advises the Parental Workshops and familial aspects of the program, as well as helps develop and implement Dance for Peace workshops. Sara is very excited about the prospect of incorporating dance and the arts into conflict resolution programs worldwide and is in the process of bringing the Dance for Peace curriculum to communities in Panamá and Libya.

Prior to joining Atlas Corps, Sara worked for a Washington international development firm whose clients included the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Global Development Program, Humanity United, and various foreign governments and other global foundations, nonprofits, and associations.

Sara obtained her B.A. with distinction from the University of Virginia in Foreign Affairs and Spanish.
